On the new, ecological soccer field are held high-profile championships and friendly matches, which simply cannot be missed by soccer fans.
At first the stadium was called Arteveldestadion, in honor of the ruler of Ghent, Jacob van Antervelde. It was soon sold to the Ghelamko Group, which is why it was named Ghelamko Arena. The opening of the stadium took place in July 2013. It was a grand show, which was accompanied by colorful fireworks and a friendly match of the local team.
Gelamco Arena can accommodate 20 thousand soccer fans. Out of such a large number of seats, 2 thousand are allocated for business class, 1200 seats for people with disabilities. There are stores with souvenir products and cafeteria on the territory of the stadium. The grandstand structure has the possibility to expand seats up to 40 thousand by means of special pull-out panels, but it has not been used since the opening.
