EPDM (ethylene-propylene-diene monomer) is a type of synthetic rubber used in many areas. The main components of this material - ethylene and propylene - are obtained from oil and natural gas. The production of EPDM involves the addition of a diene co-monomer, such as ethylidene norbornene (ENB), dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) or vinyl norbornene (VNB), to provide crosslinking through sulfur vulcanization. The diene level in commercial products typically ranges from 2% to 12%. EPDM membranes are highly resistant to various operating conditions, making them popular in construction and other industries.
