How roofs are made in Europe. Experience from Slovenia.

In June, our small team was welcomed in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. The meeting was hosted by EPRO.

EPRO is more than 20 years old. It is a family-owned company that deals with fastening technology and flat roofs.

Upon arrival at the airport, we visited the company's office.

We got acquainted with the warehouse positions that EPRO constantly supports for its customers and projects. These are mainly fasteners and accessories that a good contractor should always have at hand.

Next, we visited EPRO's facility in the town of Zerkle, where the roof was almost completed, with tile laying and other minor work remaining to be done.

General view of the roof made using SFS technology.

Notice how Europeans are quite familiar with the properties of their membranes. Therefore, counter slopes in the gutters are not used. Excess water flows into the sinkholes by gravity, and the remaining puddles do not cause any damage to the coating.

This is how the perimeter joints to the sandwich panels are made.

Some more details.

The following day we practiced. Installation of a membrane roof from a supporting base made of profiled sheet with EPS insulation, induction welding technology.

This is what an automatic hot-air seam welding machine looks like, which has been used on roofs since the 1980s and is still in operation today!

We sincerely thank Igor Torkar, the owner of EPRO, for his warm welcome, openness and attention to us!
